Default help diagnose problem!!!!!

97 civic ex

i have to crank it for like 5 secs in order for it to start and when it does the damn thing runs for like 5secs then the idle drops off and when i step on the gas to rev back up there is no response!! i can hear the suck from my intake when i step on the gas but it still continues to bog down untill it dies. also throws a misfire code on cylinder 1+2. I can hear the fuel pump prime when I put the key in and turn it to electric on, so i dont think i has to do with the fuel system. also changed the spark plugs and still does it. im gonna guess its my distributor? how can i check to see if thats the prb?

Possibly. When I did my timing belt I disconnected the plugs from the dizzy but forgot the order. I thought I had it right, but it just bogged and wouldn't respond. Turns out my dizzy is upside down or some ****, but the order is backwards. After fixing it the car ran fine.

The #1 plug is on the passenger side.

I took off the dist. and messed around with the timing (retard, advance) the only weak spark we got was from cylinder 3 and that has no codes for it. i checked again last night and code 71,72 is what im getting. now all 4 plugs were sparking and I can hear the fuel pump prime when i turn they key in the ignition. no clue what it could be? I havent tested for the fuel pressure i plan on doing that friday

firing order on the dizzy should be as follows...starting from the bottom left and going clockwise from there should be 1342. just imagine this is your dizzy cap :

34
12
