Default Nice info about ITR

Well, I figured if anyone on the internet would appreciate this, it would be the H-T ITR board..
I got a nice 10page booklet on the Integra and it's differences, etc. Specifics not normally published, blah blah.. basically for AHM employees.

Since you guys seemed to like my little OEM Coolant "lesson", you will enjoy this one as well....

I just picked up the interesting tid-bits of this 10 page booklet on Integras...

"The Type R's front suspension uses coil-over gas-pressurized damper assemblies fitted with Honda Progressive Valve (HPV) unit for progressive damping action. The spring and damping rates have been greatly increased relative to the other Integra models in order to improve handling on the road course. Front spring rate has been increased 22% with a 115% increase in compression damping, and a 70% increase in rebound damping. Additionally, the damper mounting bushing stiffness has been increased five-fold.
Damping rates for the Type R's rear suspension have also been increased with compression damping settings in the progressive valve unit up by 66%, and rebound damping increased 31%. The diameter of the rear stabilizer bar has been greatly increased from 13mm to 22mm to reduce body roll. To enhance rear wheel stability, the bearing span within the rear wheel hub has been increased by 10mm. All these special improvementsn and calibrations ensure that your Type R clients will find that the car exceeds their demanding expectations for suspension performance.

The Type R, with its larger brakes(front: up from 262mm to 282mm; rear: up from 239mm to 260mm) and larger calipers, also uses a refined ABS system which is 12.3 lbs. lighter than the standard Integra system. The weight savings helps the Type R accelerate, turn and stop better. The brakes themselves offer additional power and fade resistance for spirited driving and racetrack use.

Upholstery material has been chosen for its appearance, durability and grip-an importatn factor in a vehicle with the cornering power of Integra. The Type R's exclusive fabric upholstery scheme offers a rac-oriented feel and high traction with a center portion that works to hold the driver in place while providing excellent breathability.

The close ratio transmission used in the Type R features different ratios, bearing design and clutch than that of the GSR. With the phenomenal high-rpm performance of this engine, these changes add strength and provide close-ratio staging to take full advantage of the added power. For improved throttle response, the Type R uses a special lightweight flywheel coupled with a heavy duty clutch. The Type R also has a uniquely integrated aluminum die-cast engine stiffener for improved engine-to-transmission fastening rigidity in order to cope with additional engine output and high rpm operation. With this arrangement, vibration is reduced 22%, compared to the traditional separate fore and aft fastening systems.
The crisp manual transmission shifting action that your clients will notice in all Integra models is yet another contributing factor that helps make them such entertaining, driver-oriented cars.

Honda kicks ***.

I have a copy of the 1997 Acura Integra Type-R 'fact booklet' from my local Acura service department.

If I ever get time I will scan it and post it.

Lots of good info to dispell all myths.

Good job. Keep it handy so that you can cut and paste whenever you see a post about the R being just a glorified GSR.

Everyone- do remember to quote that bulletin the next timer you're denied warranty because you raced your car. Read it, it specifically says improvements were made to the type r to increase it's performance on a road course

The coolant info can also be found in the NSX FAQ.

Now THAT'S the complete bulletin.
My fingers got too tired of typing and I only picked the best info when I posted my coolant post.
