A Porsche 914 harness bar fits a 1st Gen CRX and will probably fit later models.

That might work if he had an 88 that has a pillar mounted stock seatbelts like the 1st gen's. But the 91's have the belts mounted to the doors, so he lacks any structurally sound point for a harness bar.

The only thing I've seen traverse the upper-back area of a CRX was something like the EMRacing setup. I believe they were using the hatch strut mounting holes as mounting points. But I wouldn't trust that to hold the driver's upper body weight transferred through the harness.

You'd be better off getting something like an Autopower 4-point roll bar with the harness bar option.
