Well I was planning on changing my headgasket today on b18b
and I've been unable to pull off the Camshaft holders(A.K.A CAM CAPS)...any tips besides using a screwdriver to pry them off.. right now I'm trying to hit them with a rubbermallot and towel over them to hit them loose.. thanks

just tap em from side to side lightly, really no need for the towel

 

I had good luck using a crescent (adjustable) wrench and wiggling them back and forth until they're loose enough to pull off. Works for the main caps as well.

 

well thanks for the input...might have to try the adustable wrench seen as the mallot just aint cutting it...is it normally so difficult to remove cam caps?

 

ya they can be a little stubborn at times. but i always do the screw driver routine when removing them. its kind of a butcher way of doing it but it works and nothing gets damaged if your carful......
