Default overheating

okay I have an 1986 Honda Civic Pro F, and in the last 2 weeks its been overheating to the point where it almost gets to Red line, I has never reached the red line YET, but been veruy close, I fpound low oil, could this be the cause?
It used a bit of oil, but now its stable and keeps the oil, could a low amount of oil and water cause it to overheat

Yep
The oil and water help heat transfer.
The engine needs the oil/water to cool the motor.
No water=No cooling.
The same applies to oil.
This is critical mang.
I had an 85 hatch. One day on the freeway I saw white
smoke in the rear view followed by an insatnt loss in power.
Temp gage maxed. Pulled over to the side of the road and turned
the car off. It was still running with the keys in my hand.
Blown head gasket. I fixed that prob w/a new ED6 hatch.
