Why are so many people selling their R's?
I wish they were all for sale when I got my car a year or 2 ago
Ive seen like 4 98ITR's for sale around here for like 15-16,000 with under 20k miles
Any reason why I see SO many for sale in the past 2 months?

Have you not noticed the abundance of "My R got Keyed!" or "Someone Jacked my emblems" or "2000 ITR #XXXX GONE!" posts? It may just be me, but I have a feeling the hate towards these vehicles may have something to do with it!
Good lord i cant understand why someone would get rid of the R unless it were for another one like Chris...i understand that. Its a super R! But really. To have the honor of having an ITR would be the best thing for me. 98 spec usdm or jdm it would be just the greatest thing to own. Not just another integra or honda or 4cyl. An R. One day i might make enough money to get one! Or i might sell my car and have enough to pay one 3/4 of the way off! I cant just have it i gotta own it. Mine Mine Mine!!!
When I first bought my ITR, I was all excited. I thought I had the best car ever built. After a while, I just realized, it's a car, all it does is move from one place to another. I understand why people are selling their R's, it's just a car.

Maybe it has something to do with my workout regimen... no more fat and I feel every fugging bumps on the road.
Oh well.
Ok here's why:
After awhile you realize there are bigger and better cars out there. In my case, there are a ton of RWD cars to have so much more fun in, specifically the S13 & S14's. I'll admit that after a weekend event racing my R, I swore I'd never sell it, but I think what my problem is, is that after driving daily for the past two years you just get bored of it, it gets old, and all that fun driving the R is lost, which is why it should probably be reserved for the weekend when you want it to be. This is really a track only car IMO. It more fun to drive there.
my $.02

I would just love to have one, about 5 months after I got my GSR, there were 2 NBP and 2 PY R's at the local dealer, if I wouldnt have got my car, I could of had my NBP R, but maybe one day I will!!!!
If I become rich, I will get an R and get it painted SSBP!

The only reason I am contemplating selling mine is because I have the opportunity to buy an M3 Lightweight. There's only 100 of those in the world. Methinks that might be worth it.
I love my R, and there is not much I would give it up for. This is one of them.

I was thinking of selling my R, but after an auto-x or track event, I would appreciate it just a little more. I'd still sell it, but only for the right price. I fact, I am thinking of purchasing a second R within the next few weeks.
I agree the r is a well balanced car that is great on a road coarse, i spend very little time on road coarses though. It is just a car, a car that the next generation of imports is killing, the RSX type s is as fast, the WRX is faster and has 50x the potential for power gains, the VW GTI 1.8T when modded kills it and is alot more comfortable. After spending about 15,000 on my car in mods(basically all performance oriented), such as switching cams twice only to come back to the stock ones I realize the car's limits more than a lot of people that believe the advertizing for after market parts, the dyno tests and quater mile runs were always disappointing. I still love my car but I don't try to front that its some kill all.
They want faster cars. The R will beat most other honda's stock for stock, but what happens if a firebird formula pulls up with a few mods and a decent driver? Anwer=you will either spend and outrageously amount of money to still not be as fast as the formula on street tires, or you will realize that your car isnt as fast as you thought.
I'd let mine go fora WRX or a M3... I'd prefere AWD... so the WRX would be a good choice... Not many R owners harbour a grudge against WRX'S..
But I'll keep the R for now.. it's a ton of fun.. no doubt.
i guess until recently the Type R was prob the best bang for the buck.....but nowadays there are more affordable sports coupes that r the same caliber of the R.
I wouldn't go as far to say that the type R is a "pure sports car" more like a pure race car!

everyone here is dumping their itrs because of police harassment after a few itr-related incidents (or just honda discrimination in general) and big-time theft. my police friend said at one point itrs were being stolen at the rate of 2/month. my friend's gf had her 98 stolen about 2-3 months back and it has never been recovered...
local wrecking yard has like 4-6 itrs from all years piled up in the corner of the yard, either stolen/recovery or wrecked. there's even one that's complete but in boxes after the police recovered it while it was being stripped, but the insurance company wrote it off and cannot be rebuilt. also unfortunate is that the wrecking yard is asking mad money for the parts so no one is buying and everything is rotting away
and yes i did try to take a pic. the yard so no. and they had a guard dog to back them up
