a friend of mine said that if you take your 75k mile civic to the dealership then they have to give you this like big tune up check up and replace a whole bunch of stuff(plugs, wires, fluids etc) all for free because of a recall or something?

anyone else hear of this?

i bought my 97 civic used off a dealer lot and i was thinking about going down and talking to them. but i just thought i would ask on here first.

actually this is true to an extent... there was a notice that some obd's were found to be faulty and resulted in honda giving free check ups to certain builds... i forget wheather it was the year or jsut certain vins that got off the line... i personally got a letter and it stated that you get a free check up before 75k and a free check up after 75k that includes replacement of any parts to make the car compliant and a oil change too i think... i got the check up that's before 50k (got a free o2 sensor cause i burned it with an aftermarket but i guess they didn't notice when i put my stock exhaust back on).

i'm assuming that mods to the engine void the check up or something...

when i went to the service center they knew about the check up also before hand before me even handing them my notice... *shrug* it's worth a shot i suppose

 

recalls usually work off of vins, but sometimes it is for an entire model. If you can get to a computer that has alldata, it can tell you all the recalls and TSB's. Some recalls do expire though, unless it's a safety recall,
