Default paneling the doors

i was wondering about paneling the doors, i have a 1999 honda civic and i just wanted to make the front doors covered up a bit. I was thinking some thin thin sheet metal, then use tin snips and cut out the edges, and roll them back. Add in a little handle to open the door using the metal bar...

any idears/pre-fabbed stuff/etc

there are specific requirements for thickness if this is for SCCA. you may want to consider that if you want to run IT at some point.
