How did we get here?
The "idle thoughts" post got me thinking...how did we get here? I am pretty sure that I found Temple of VTEC shortly after getting my R in 97, and that somehow it morphed, or everybody jumped ship to another board that, then eventually, became this one. I remember some drama about ownership and archives, etc. , but what is the family tree of this board ? I am getting old and remembering less and less....

vtec.net was the place in 98. They had a hard drive crash and went down for close to 1 year. About that time a bunch of other sites, including this one, come up.
I was looking at some thread somewhere and somebody had a link to honda-tech in their sig. I clicked it, and was like, "Woah!! People driving Hondas on racetracks!" One of the first people to respond to me was our own Catch22 (at the time, posted as RoadRacer). Might have been that guy "Geeser" who had a link off vtec.net. Cripes, it's been years ago. I'm old.
This was the only Honda board I found that had people who actually drove their cars on track. Might have been someone's sig in clubsi.com...also, Tuan something comes to mind from the old vtec.net days...
In any event, RoadRacer (now Catch22) responded to a post I had put up about my sport springs and that my car might be too low. Gawd, that was a long time ago.

Ah, the olden days....
I bought a race car, google-searched and found this site 2 years ago. I learned a ton by lurking a ton, printing all the threads I thought were golden and eventually started asking questions and responding to posts.
Of course one of my first threads was, "Painting my rotors - what's a good high-temp paint?" or something like that. Of course, I meant calipers...
Since then I got involved with Mike and the NorCal crew in formatting the WCHC, (and even conferenced called with Karl and Cracka' Scott regarding the HC) got involved in the first NASA/TC Honda Thunderhill event, made t-shirts, beat Mike for a half-rack beer bet, gloated for a week and have been envious of the other race communities ever since!
HT RR/AX has been berry, berry good to me.

Lemme guess. The one where Tommy was on 2 wheels drifting around Oak Tree in the rented Outback?

WRXRacer111 always made references to the H-T AX/RR forum when I'd talk to him online, so I eventually signed up. The place has a pretty good idiot filter, and after 100+ posts in the RR/AX forum while barely owning a Honda I still haven't been flamed so I guess I made it through.

Yeah, I remember that. I posted a lot before, but I don't think I posted on vtec.net after it came back up.
vtec.net was really the only place to go for technical stuff back in the mid-late 90's.

I sort of remember an e-mail from the founders of this board to come and check out the site ,or was that from someone trying to get us to jump ship from here? Too many fumes in pre-grid...???
I am glad this board is around , warts and all

And you may ask yourself
How did I get here?
And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

I really have no clue how I found this place.
I liked Hondas, heard about this "motor swapping stuff," got really interested in it, did some searches and BLAM! here i was.
I first ventured in to RR/Autox when I found out how easy it was to get involved through MMSports.

........same as it ever was.
<--surprised rj actually has some taste in music.
i was referred to here from a nissan board a couple years back when i was basically the only guy who was into legitimate racing. i was also warned that everybody was pretty ruthless, so i sat mostly quiet for a year or so, and now i've made it into the ranks of making people mad. :
:
it has its fautls, but for one-make 'umbrella' site, it's the best around.

Am I the first to admit I came over here from SHO? I found that site after buying my 98 ITR and I was looking for places to autocross (funny how little things have changed). Anyway, I was repeatedly told "you ask too many racing questions, better luck on HT." The rest is history.
My original name was ITR#231. I remember RoadRacer and Cobra and a few other old names, but many people have their original name still. Any old names of current members you can remember?
-travis, who got here 8 months after the party started...late as usual.

I was at an autocross and Trey Commander mentioned it. Told me I should check it out. Been here ever since. Not the earliest poster, but it's been a while...
Somehow I made it from the old Honda Civic Hybrid page/board and vtec.net to here... don't really remember all the details but I lurked here for quite awhile before signing up. Then after I did sign up I hung around the ITR Forum and AX/RR... now I very rarely venture into the rest of HT b/c of the complete lack of knowledge out there
Christian, who's probably spent more time on HT than he'd like to admit
