i got a 92 hatchback with a 95 ls motor..it is BONE STOCK, no intake no exaust no nothing...but i gotta pump like 10 bucks after 2 days of driving...and i dont even punch it....any idea guyz?

 

are u running rich any check engine lights maybe the 02 is old try to change that and 10 bucks is nothing these days

 

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter and cleaned your injectors?

 

Everybody's pretty much right, I say check fuel filter/injectors or o2. When I was getting crappy mileage, I changed my o2, problem solved.

hard to say.. how much do u drive? calculate ur MPG then let us know. btw, my b16 iwth intake/exhaust gets 25 city, 35hwy, and i dont drive slow at all. i only drive from campus and back to my apartment, so i gas up $20 (premium) every other week (~220miles to a tank)

 

It seems EVERYBODY is wasting more gas, when it's 37 million dollars a fu*kin gallon. Sorry, just had to get that of my chest...

 

with gas prices these days , I wouldnt be surprise at pumping at least 10$ in a 2 day peroid, try your o2 sensor, your car throwing any codes?

My brother will get 110+ to a tank if he's lucky! He has a b18c in his teg. He's a lazy bum so he hasn't been doing the maintanence needed...

 

Your car is prbably running too rich, even though it is a stock ls motor, i know that with gas prices that $10 bucks probably gets you 4 gallons of premium gas... which is say if you get 25 mpg then you would only get 100 mile out of your tank in 2 days...

 

well to begin with i dont care about this motor anymore soo i pump 87 gas...i am not gettin any codes..i think i shoudl change my fuel filter...but to be honest with u guyz when i had my turbo on...i wasted less gas...and i dont drive much at alllll...i pump 10 bucks 2 days later im on empty dude...this is f**kin wack...

 

what to u expect to get for 10 bucks like said above thats only like 4-5 gallons and if ur getting on it all the time that sucks up gas. that sounds about right filling up every 2-3 days if ur only puttin in 10 at a time either suck it up and deal with it or dont drive its that simple

dude, you do live in california. gas prices are pretty ****** high there. i think everyone in this thread has said the right stuff too. also, ever heard of that zmax ****? you could try that.

gas is atleast $6/gallon in europe... we have it good compared to most other western countries

dont LS motors take 87 gas anyway? i thought only dohc VTEC motors needed premium

 

dude i dont care about the gas prices....i fill up 10 bucks it goes up to like a little above half way point ..i drive to schoool and back maybe like to a store and back nowhere far or anything...no insane uphill...someone told me ur timign might be advances soo i retarded it a bit...but still nothing...and about the vtec motors only needing 91 octane...they generally say b series motors requires 91 octane...

220 a tank? i do at least 280-290 with a h22 with i/h/e and i have a heavy foot as well. my fill up for 10.9 gallon is around $24.xx bucks weekly

i have a CX tank (10 gallon capacity)... i only fill up 8 gal usually.

actually, go to the teg forum and you'll see that non-vtec b-series motors have lower CR, so they dont need premium. just fill ur tank to full, reset your trip odometer, drive to empty, record milage and amount u filled up with. we cant really tell just how bad ur milage is by ur driving habits

 

very true...i gues i will do that....2maro im going on a long trip...i will fill up my gas tank all the way and see how many miles i get till im almost empty and then i'll post it and see wuts up from there...

 

since gas became so expensive, lately ive been watchin my tank, and ive got a 92 dx hatch with a d15b vtec. on empty, i can put $10 in and it gets me to a full tank, from half or so on that half i can go about 260 miles. not sure if what im writing is anything to even consider. the reason i wrote is because i was worried i was getting horrible mileage, but when you do the math, its not so bad, my examlpe is highway driving but here it is. i filled up, drove 320 miles, and filled again, it took 8.2 gallons to get it filled again. 8.2 gallons divided by 320 miles is 39.02 mpg. so i wasnt doing all that bad. fuel pressure is better the more fuel is in the tank, thats why as the tank goes down, it seems to get shittier. something to try: fill up completely, let it get to half a tank then keep filling, i gaurantee youll get better mileage the fuller the tank is. i was the same as you, every couple of days, putting 10 in and not going as far as i thought i should. its better now. hope this helps, sorry so long.

 

okay guyz on my trip i drove 270 miles on 10 gallons of gas. which i am guessin is pretty good...but thats only freeway driving....driving in the city i go through 10galz in like 4 days or something

your doing good then. i jsut finished a swap and the car got 50 miles on a half a tank, it's obviously running really rich...it then threw a cel...so i changed my O2 and cleaned the plugs, also re-calibrated the tps...i also took some timing out...the car still has some hesitation at partial throttle but i think that has helped our gas consuption problem...

270 is not that bad, that actually seems about righteven though it was on the freeway

im rocking a D15Z1 Turbo.. yes.. a VX motor on a T25 @ 6psi, and im getting 32 highway.. lol gotta love that 350 MP - tank!
