Default 15" Steelies. Do they hurt performance?

Im going to use a pair of 15" steelies for drag racing. Do these wheels hurt performance compared to the ITR stock wheels? Will they affect my 1/4 times inspite their heavy weight?

N.B Only 2 for the front are going to be used.

I can only assume that the steelies are narrower than your stock ITR wheels thus giving you less contact patch and yes that will affect your performance. Less contact patch more wheel spin.

Plus the steelies are heavier than the stock ITR wheels and the less turning weight you have the quicker.

The words "Steelies" and "Performance" shouldnt be used in the same sentence..

I know they are heavier than the stock wheels but will they affect 1/4 times or have any other effects?

Like I said the less turning weight (i.e. wheels) the quicker your car will be or the more turning weight the slower the car will be.

why do you need more input. they answered your questions. overall yes they are going to hurt performance. enough that you will be able to tell prolly not. prolly only going to make .1 of a difference if that. it also depends on what tires you are going to run on them.

smaller wheels let you get through the gears faster because they let your rpms get up quicker...so racing with 14s or 15 get your revs up quick.. but you need ligther rims than steelies.
