Skunk 2 is bad ***.

Damn...those Type 2's look bad ***.

Perfect.

Smart company. Them and JUN are one of the few companies to figure out you dont need a HUGE exhuast cam at all....

Looks like I gotta trade my Skunkies for some Skunk Type 3's!

Jeff you needs to do some testing!

FYI: Skunk2 will be racing next year in a 2002 RSX. They'll be looking to break some new records. Stay Tuned!

Yes.. I have been doing a little cam-comparison testing on the dyno.. in my spare time. So far, the Spec A's were the best.. even better than Spec B.
But I just installed a JUN2 intake cam and ITR exhaust cam this past week. Man, this setup kicks ***. Feels the best out of ALL the cams I have tried so far.

Big intake cam, no so big exhaust cam.. seems to work well.
Can't wait to dyno.

Ummm, I thought the Cs were 12.5 MM and 295 duration.
Like this for all three lobes:
250 (11.0) 295 (12.5) 250 (11.0) I
250 (11.0) 295 (12.5) 250 (11.0) E

I think the JUN cam specs are at gross lift, while the Skunks are at 1mm lift. You should always use the lift/duration specs at the checking height as this takes all the clearances out of the play. It gives a much better read on the cams true specs...

Come on you guys should know the difference between advertised duration (duration at zero lift) vs. duration at 1mm lift (japan/honda), vs. duration @ .050" lift (common US cam spec). But still the duration still don't tell you jack about the ramp rates. If you look at Skunk2 I cam vs. CTR/ITR you'll see why Skunk said it works fine against the stock valve train. Although it opens the valves as fast as it could just like R cams when it gets to the top it is much softer.

The Skunk2 III cams are indeed huge. Even longer duration than JUN III's.

Looks like the Skunk2 Stage III cams will be nice.
Hopefully Skunk doesn't **** em up and do huge primary lobes..

Mike K. I have been blabbing about that big cam intake, stock cam exhuast for eternity..and all I get is "toda rules" BS.

I am so glad you tested it. People need to know. Saves money.

ANd yes, modifying primary lobes to be huge is probably the worst design flaw in some brands of cams...

Good going Mike K.

Kick ***.

agreed, Jack.

i'll have some dyno plots soon.
one is of my motor with the following cams tested... jun2, spec A, spec B, ctr

other is of my friend's motor with 12:1 compression.. spec A, spec B, jun3

the results were unbiased, and you'd actually be surprised which one got the award for "off VTEC power"

stay tuned....

post them up ASAP.

When I'm racing I stay on the mid-high lobes. I don't race at 3,000 rpm. 7-9 grand more like.

for those of us that don't race in a straight line and don't have extra trannys to go with each track we race on, you will have to adjust revs and shift points for various turns.

I just spit all over my keyboard reading this thread...

I've got to agree with Jack. Straight line racing sucks...turns are where it's at

VIR like Visa- "It's everywhere you want to be"

Just got off the phone with Skunk2, the type 3's aren't for street engines, they're for purpose built racing engines only. Just fyi.

I don't remember the specs for Skunk's previous cam, but I'm assuming it's now called their Stage I cam?? For those who have the Stage I (their previous only cam offerring) cam, what's your VTEC activation point set at? What CR are you running with them? Thanks.
