King Motorsports Street Mod Cup
Results from event #1 will be posted by 5/25/2004
Thought I'd share this here since there seems to be a good following of Street Mod Honda around these parts. We have developed a very strong class in Street Mod in the Milwaukee Region over the past few years. A lot of good drivers and close competition. Mostly H/A cars.
We (King) are very supportive of the grassroots motorsports activities, and decided it would be fun to sponsor the SM class for the local SCCA Chapter.
We have developed a few pages on our site to track the competition. I'll be developing some sort of commentary for each event and also some pictures. I'll also try to keep it more on the technical side where possible.
Right now we are still in development mode, so the names, copy, and pictures are just place holders. Our first event is Sunday.
Enjoy!

2)Mugen Mike
3)timnparts
4)Madtown Si
5)Dr. Adam
6)Negativo
7)Hondamanwill
8)wes2k
9)BrewCityR
The class favorite looks to be Phil Bedard in a 400+whp WRX. I wish I had another 200hp and 2 more wheels to put it down

There's plenty of room in the back of that EG for a second ITR motor. Do I foresee a new King Motorsports project car? Hmmm.......

Well, I'm not eligible to compete for the trophy since I'm a King dude, but I'll make sure I keep him in his place.

Thanks again for your sponsorship Clayton. I am working on getting the Street Modified Cup mentioned on the front page of the website and in the Drift. As of now there is very little solo information listed both on the website and in the Drift and I am hoping to change that
Phil is proving what SM it is about.....power and putting that power down and good driving. SM is not as much of a weight class as lets say CSP/DSP. Phil is also a much better driver than many of the local SM'ers estimate him to me, he always seems to put together a clean run and it is usually very fast. His pure speed as both a driver and a car is there and keeping his runs clean will be the priority. FYI-if his last run would have been clean (and I watched it, he did not murder the 2 cones he hit) he would have won SM by 2.1 seconds and taken first on index by .075 of a second. I don't care how good his car is, how soft an index is and how the course design was, in our region people that take first on index are GREAT drivers!
An example. Since we all started together in 2002, here are the people that have taken 1st overall at WAI and SCCA-Milw events EXCLUDING CENDIV's:
Jeff Cashmore-9 times
Darrel Padbreg-5 times
Jimmy Crawford-3 times
Bill Knighton-2 times
The following people have taken 1st on index once; Jim Crawford, Dan Cyr, Jason Frank, Ted Juern and Jason Saini.
So that is 9 people. Out of those 9 people, 4 of them have won National Championships! Jimmy Crawford could win one if he went. Bill Knighton did great in 2002 in a very under-prepared car. I think we would all agree that Jason Frank is on his way. Phil was very close (inches) from being the 10th person to take overall since 2002. That says a lot about a driver, especially around here.
I think this is going to be an interesting race through the year. Phil has told me that he needs to keep his car in one peice. He may out-point everyone at the events he shows up at but someone may take a "Karp" win if they get to 5 point paying events and the class favorite is only at 4.

See door.

If I do run SM, I really will be in 9th place or 59th place.
