Brake upgrade done (NSX, ATE, P+, rotors) + new pics of the R(56k NO-NO!!)
Hi guys,
I think the stock brakes have worked out quite well for me - last season I used stock brakes with Ferrodo DS2500 pads, but that was on street-tires (RE010). This year I have bought som sexy and functional Bridgestone RE540S for my R, and I wanted to upgrade my brakes as well due to the bigger grip of the tires and to increase the brake-stamina for longer race-heats.
After much research on H-T I decided to go for a NSX caliper-setup. (thanks to the info and NSX-caliper threads from 'Big Phat R' and 'MIGS'.) This seemed like a good upgrade vs. money spent. kind of a 'budget setup'. The problem is that there are very few NSX in Norway - but I got lucky and made a sweat deal last summer. during the autumn and winter I have done research on what fluid, rotors, and pads to use.
It ended up with the following:
- new Legend GS-rotors from Autozone (big
to Willard, thanks for the deal)
- ATE superblue
- Carbotech Panther +
- NSX calipers, refinished in red to add a little bling
Finally, yesterday I got all of it installed on my R' - I have to say
This is a insane difference in stopping-power. Damn. Great upgrade it seems like. I expected a lot of improvement, but this is bad-***, my brother with a 02-STi think my R has better brakes than his BREMBO setup
Can't wait to test this at the track! Hopefully there is a trackday next week.
Here are my brake parts before I mounted them on my car.
NSX caliper on the car - real thight fit
some random shot of the R and my brothers STi
Some detail-shots and a little  for the Honda-tech.com

I dont think that paint would last 2 sessions on my car

I bought some "heat resitant" paint on a spray can... It should manage well up too 300°C after what the box says... but we'll see...
Anyways the caliper itself don't get quite as hot as the rotor and pads. But for now it looks good

I've boiled superblue, I'd say goodbye to the pretty red stuff.
But otherwise all looks nice and shiny and pretty.

I figured I would get a response like that
I just wanted to try it on...
give my car a little more personality, I work whit graphics and paid like 10$ for the stickers, so I just wanted a change. I don't know how long I will have them on, but I think the stickers give the car a little more "serious" look, and somewhat racing-inspired. Not a big deal.

For those with this "kit" how is the performance affected due to the weight?
I mean do u notice the car pulling less compared to some friends car u have tested with before?

Looks good.
The more you use them the better they will get.
When you wear those pads down and get some wear on the rotors there will be a difference.
Glad I could help.

The Euro 2 piece unit (tublar vs. the USDM cast unit).
The 'nozzles' are where the upper heat shield mount.
