Does anyone know about this transparent film on rims? I bought a set of mesh rims, and power washed them clean. I noticed that there was a little film that began to come off of the shint part? Is it a protective film that is required? Or is it like a clear coat? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

its probally just to protect them, i know when i had my car poainted they spraid my engine with someting like that

i think its a clear coat.. i have a set of 00 GSR's and one wheel is starting to do the same thing..

 

It is an acrylic clear coat.

 

so... to get this in tip top shape again.. they need to be fully sanded down, and re-sprayed? or can only that section be scuffed, and the whole wheel shot?
