Default Honda newbie

Hello,

1st post. Just got a bone stock '90 Civic. Can anyone steer me in the direction of:

1. Both passenger side doors to replace mine that are bashed in.
2. Some reasonable performance modifications I can do without sacrificing reliability.

Thanks,

GHEN

Doors- You can try the classified forum or maybe eBay.

Do you have an Si? If so, you have some options with the Si (D16A6) motor. If not, then your best option for reliable performance would be a motor swap.

welcome from 1 honda newbie to another..

i just picked up a 90 civic DX sedan myself..

i can't offer advice, cuz i'm just getting started asking the same questions myself, but here's what i've found out..

this page will tell you a little about your engine:
http://www.geocities.com/chipm....html

if you've got a DX like me, you've probably got a D15B2.. i'm finding it's going to be easier and cheaper to just swap in a D16B6 and toy with that a bit before working toward my eventual goals with a B-series.. but i've read and found out that i should be able to pick up the D16 for somewhere between $80 and $150, so i'm not looking at spending any more for that than i would to get what i've got back to life.. i've also read that the D16B6 bolts right in, but you've got to do some other things to go from the DPFI to the MPFI (dual port to multi port)..

that's the part i'm investigating right now..

i've got an old sorry engine with 275K that may not last me until i'm ready to do the B-series, so i'm starting easy.. heh

i haven't really looked into modifying the D15 i've got, for that very reason..

Good luck. heh.. let me know if you find any other options out..

Thanks for the info. I am going to leave the engine in the car for now. Really just looking for a way to add a little more get up & go.

My car has 118K, but it was free, and in excellent condition except for the passenger doors.

Good luck & thanks again.

But if the motor is the DX with dual point injection and a 4 speed tranny, there is no such thing as "get up and go" with that motor.. lol. I had one, THEY LICK!!

But anyhow good luck

hi and welcome to the wonderful world of honda tech.

try reading the FAQ to get a better feel of the site and ofcourse learn to use the serach function. most noobs get tortured for not searching before posting very simple questions that have been covered hundreds of times.

for your first question try the classifieds here on HT there are lots of items waiting to be picked up, but before you buy check them out. there are scammers out there so be careful. check for a good sellers list and vouch list before you send people your $$$$. also check your yellow pages. there are lots of junkyards that have old hondas kicking around just waiting for you to buy parts.

most first mods are the Intake, Header, Exhaust AKA.. i/h/e
they are inexpensive and have proven to have great power gains. i would suggest an AEM intake, DC Header, and Thermal r&d exhaust w/ stealth baffel installed. there are lots of other manufacturers that cost less $ and are close in HP gains.

do your homework and choose what is best for you.
