use the D16Y8 and the stock 90 Si ec,dist, intakeand harness,,its direct bolt in,all you got to do is rig up some kind of vtec controller..maybe have your stock on modded by Zdyne so it has wire for vtec..your 90 Si Distributor will bolt right up to the D16Y8 head...it wont bolt up to the D16Z..diff bolt pattern than D16Y8 or D16A6

go with y8 head/motor...newer= usually better and less miles....higher c/r, more aggressive cams, larger intake ports many improvements....also 88-91 si distributor, just bolt on...so no need to gettho spec it by cutting it as is the case with z6 heads....

if you want to use vtec ecu...then harness converter is required (nonobd to obdI) or complete rewiring to either obdI or obdII (obdI recommended)...other ways is si ecu (pg7, pm7, pm6) with external vtec switch....or a Pr3/PW0 prgram with low vtec swithc and knock sensor disabled....

if you use the y8 head, you can use the stock crx si ecu (but is not really desirable as the fuel mapping is not for a vtec engine.) You can get your si ecu chipped or reprogrammed with a sohc vtec program, or you can get a one wire conversion from zdyne which will activate your vtec and adjust your fuel mapping for vtec. With these options, you will not have to adjust the ecu wiring.

Second option, spend 140 bucks on a crx si to z6 ecu wiring harness converter. Blown90hatch makes them, and plug in a z6 ecu. (92-95 ecu) You aren't going to want a y8 ecu that is obd 2, which will require extra wiring.

As for the intake manifold, you can use the stock crx si manifold or you can use the y8. The y8 flows better than a stock si, and a z6 for that matter, so there are advantages to that as well. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

here's the right way...use the intake, injectors and ecu from your orginal d16a6...intake bolts right on to d16y8...then have your ecu modded by zdyne so i has the vtec wire built it........much easier than guy below's suggestion..u dont mess with anything of the wire original harness or distributor..only run one wire from ecu to vtec solinoid..and your done!

if you're gonna do the swap the right way (wired for the p28)....then I'd use the z6 head b/c you're gonna have to use the z6 distributor b/c you're not gonna wanna wire for OBD2 and the z6 distributor wont properly bolt to the y8 head.

It's not a Z6 head on a ZC...It's a Z6 head on an A6 or A5...Don't use Y8, it'll be much more expensive and yield basically the same hp. You need correct wiring w/ ECU or an rpm switch/VTEC controller. Other than all that, it's pretty straightforward. I think you use the Z6 head gasket (which is better anyways because it's metal...)

ok,go so suit yourself and take the hard way..here's one last tip..those crx injectors will not work with the P28 ecu...crx si inj---Peak + hold...p28 inj=saturation...good luck
