Bleeding/flushing brakes question
I was doing a search on brake pads and I came across this:

Back In Januray I completely flushed out the 1.5yr old fluid and replaced it with Valvoline Synpower.
I then took it for a short drive and noticed the mushiness was gone, but was somewhat dissapointed because I was expecting a firm brake pedal. Instead its normal and gradual, and I've gotten used to it. I'm not sure if it's meant to be this way, or if it was firmer when I first got the car new back in '02. Should I have gone back and bled the brakes some more after the short drive?
It's almost time to bleed the brakes again, but there is still some muck that was left over from the old fluid I got rid of back in January, so I'll be doing another flush. Should I bleed again after a short drive after the flush?
EDIT: You know I'm not sure if the muck is left over from the old fluid, or is the result of the new fluid breaking down

To the extent that you can tell with your foot, all fluids are exactly the same - incompressible. If there is any mushiness it's bubbles or aspects inherent to the design of the system - pedal flex, vacuum assist, or whatever.
Changing brands of fluid won't make any difference in feel and "new" fluid won't feel different than "broken down" fluid.

ah, ok. the 1.5 yr old fluid did have a lot of bubbles coming out of the bleeder. Just wondering if perhaps I should do a short bleed after I do a short drive, after flushing/bleeding the brakes for the first time in 6 months.
