Cbr F3 Battery charging problem?
A guy a friend of mine knows is selling a cbr f3 for $2000 It has a battery charging problem what could this be (do they have some type of altanator?) Its not a bad battery cause he also tried a brand new battery has the same problem........ Wondering if i should buy this thing or not
It could be the regulator/rectifier. Those are notoriously bad on F2 and F3s, as well as CBR900RRs (and VFRs). If not, it could be the charging system.
And $2000 is a good price if there's nothing else wrong with the bike.

Sorry, that I don't know the answer to. I had my bike checked out by the local bike shop. But hopefully someone here knows. If not, try searching around on other forums (besides HT).
The only way u can test the rectifier is if u have a multimeter. check http://www.cbrworld.net and go to the forums. there is a write up on how to test it if you have a multimeter. if you dont have a multimeter then you will have to take it to the shop. They charged me $10 to test it, not to bad.
I picked mine off of ebay for $120 shipped overnight. They go for $100 ground shipping. I will give you the guys name who i baught it offa, he sells alot of bike parts if u want. Oh and i got it brand new with 1 year warrenty. The dealer wanted $225 for it there.
Installition is easy. Take off the right rear faring. Its just alittle black box connected to the frame. It is connected by 2 8mm bolts, and has a plug going into it. Disconect the plug, unbolt, the plug in new one and bolt up. Takes 5 min tops. Very easy and not to expensive.

I had the same problem on my f3
it was the regulator/rectifier
before you buy a new regulator you might want to look into rebuilding the broke one (if thats what it is) they're coreable and can be rebuilt sometimes
the price is good for the bike though
