Anyone recommend a good place with good prices for a paintjob in the L.A. area? Somewhere you guys would take your own cars to?

I was quoted 3 grand for a full paintjob. EVERYTHING which to me is a reasonable but also an assraping price. But the quality of the work is worth the money to me.

I spoke to a few other shops who were trying to sing the same song to me, and they didnt even have a reputation.

If you want a good price you will literally have to strip your car down yourself and trail it somewhere w/o a motor if you are trying to repaint the car.

Otherwise he quoted me 400 bucks to paint my front bumper, bezels, side mouldings and rear lip and front lip.

But none of the **** would end up matching obviously.

time for my obligatory post regarding Body Pros... in a nutshell, don't go there Just trust me. 137 can vouch for that as well as some others that posted in my thread which has been archived a while ago...

as for M.O.B. - Miguel provides excellent customer service... I've gone there a couple times for some quotes, and one of my buddies got his hood fixed there. They didn't fix it correctly the first time around - there was wavyness where the dent used to be, old cracks in the paint were still visible (they were supposed to sand down/strip the old paint) and there was a new dent on the hood after it was fixed. Miguel fixed all of the problems a few months later (my buddy was up north for school) without hesitation. The paint isn't perfect - both the color and the consistency of the metallic flakes don't match 100% but that's expected since the hood was the only part repainted. Additionally, there is fine orange peel across the entire hood and that's after colorsanding/cutting/buffing.

Another thing that concerns me about M.O.B. is their prep- a year or so ago, Aaron M posted a thread about the paint on his ITR front lip chipping and cracking prematurely. Unfortunately, he hit a bucket before he was able to go back to the shop to show Miguel. Another case I've seen is w/ the green JDM front Integra which now belongs to JMS JT. There are chips on his front bumper and the color of the old paintjob are showing underneath. Now Mr. Johnny Tran is too lazy to drive up to the shop to show Miguel, so we don't know if it's normal or what.

Anyhow, that's my $.02...

p.s.

**** Body Pros.

Yes I have some imperfections that need work.

Granted I haven't brought the car to Miguel yet (I haven't really driven the car much at all, just got her smogged).

I recently PM'd Mike Phillips of Meguiar's. He told me he knew of a good body shop with decent pricing. As soon as I find out, I'll let you know VAP. Stand by...
