Guys with Falken Azenis.
Plan on purchasing these tires once my ziex tires wear out(which should be shortly).
Anyways I just have two simple questions for those who have these:
1.) I have tried searching, but have come up with various prices on the sets. How much did you pay for a set of four and where did you purchase from?(considering they were 15's)
2.) My ziex tires have lasted for a long time, but my only concern to switching over was the longitvity of the azenis tires due to the softer rubber. How long should these tires last taking into consideration that I do not road race, not a track car, and I am a college student so my car isnt driven a whole lot.
Thanks
Ohh and about question 2: Many of you are probably wondering why I would even get them at all, but I just like the beefiness of that tire compared to the ones I have now, if that makes any sense.

I'm guessing you didnt spend enough time searching....
There's alot of threads around, especially in the civic and integra forums.
http://www.vulcantire.com seems to have the best prices and their availability is usually a few weeks at most.

If you ever plan on driving the car in the rain, I would not recommend these tires. There are better choices out there for cars that see rain duty.
Otherwise, if it is just a weekend car, then it won't be a problem.

I bought mine from discount tire direct which ended up being the exact same price as vulcan (higher price for tires but free shipping) so depending on where you live either one is great. DTD also got mine to me in Pittsburgh from Arizona in 4 days. Just a thought if you need them in a hurry...
I bought my Falkens from Phil at http://www.philstireservice.com for ~$70 each

I just got mine last Friday from tires.com. Had them price match vulcantire.com and they were $290 shipped including valvestems. Took them 5 days to get here. 205/50/15

For most folks, they last about 10-15K miles. I've heard of one person getting 20K miles but that's by far the most I've heard of.
There are some tires that last a lot longer (almost anything), and some that have better grip on wet roads (almost anything - this is a significant consideration in Florida); treadlife and wet traction are the two downsides to the Falken Azenis. But they stick great on dry roads and the price is good. If that combo works for you, then go for it!
If OTOH you're looking for a tire that lasts a lot longer and does well in the rain and is priced as low as (lower than) the Azenis Sport, you might consider the Yokohama AVS ES100. It won't stick quite as well on dry roads as the Azenis but it's still a good tire, and is great for the money. Looks like this:

Well..I'll be honest. I purchased some azenis a few months ago....I have zero problems with them in the rain. You shouldn't be racing around in the rain anyway...and even when I drive some what aggesively in the rain I don't have any problems which I wouldn't encounter with any other tire.

Nice! I saw that Sears carried Falkens back when I was shopping for mine, but I never got around to giving them a call. Sounds like I should have!

I live in the PNW, and rock Azenis all year round. I actually autocross with them too, and I have had no problems. But on the streets when wet, I don't race around either, but still never had a problem

240 picked up out the door, and they have lasted maybe 10,000 miles and a few track events. They still have alot more meat left
loud humming road noise
gives me something to listen to while i drive with no radio

Did they price match them for you or is that their typical price.
I am with Emerika. I have not had any problems with my azenis in the rain. You just have to be smart about how you drive your car in certain situations. It is funny, I was soo scared of these tires and their reputation in the rain. Now that I have them I don't think I will switch to anything else any time soon.

Damn thanks guys for all of the info!
Also I was not aware of the loss of traction in the rain, however there were opposing views to that.
These tires shouldnt be anyworse than what I was used to running when I first got the hatch back when it was stock (bald *** 13's......no traction and felt as if i was going to slide off the highway when it rained....scarry ****!

Everyone always replies how terrible they are in the rain. What kind of driving are you guys doing in the rain to complain so much about them.
i am with emerika>> I too live in the PNW and rock them year round. I just keep it slower in the rain...
They have been on my car 10K and have lots of tread left.

Who was complaining? All I ever see is praise for them in the rain, and I can vouch for that fact.

I've always found this ironic, too, since Azenis are my track rain tyres.
It's a big, old fashioned, blocky tread pattern that won't channel standing water very well, so if you go through a three inch puddle at 80 miles per hour, you'll be in trouble. I remember driving at Summit in a big downpour, though, and it handled the stream that crosses the road after Turn One pretty well.
The car would shift predictably every single lap, the same way every time, so it was manageable for a novice driver like me.
Remember, though, that Azenis don't last long. As that blocky tread pattern wears down, the tyres will get more and more "iffy" in the rain, and eventually will not handle even damp roads, much less downpours and standing water.
If you watch how they're wearing and remain cognizant of the fact that they are wearing and will handle water less well as they wear, you'll be fine.
The compound itself is fine in the wet as long as the temperature's warm.

I have the latest Ziex 502 on my daily driver EP3. To be honest, the Azenis don't have all that much over the Ziex when you're talking about the car's attitude and ultimate grip.
Honestly, if you liked the Ziex so far and you're not going to be hitting the track anytime soon, just get more Ziex. I think the Ziex is a fine compromise for most drivers.
I usually buy my Falken from Vulcan Tire, and have learned to trust their service.

GDI I love that. Thanks for brightening my entire day by reminding how much the "shift" out of a wet turn one rules.
