Default Spoon Racing seat or comparable racing shell

Well..im on my weight reducing binge..im getting rid of my JDM Recaros (i already have a buyer )..anyways im considering the Sparco Roadster seat for the passenger side; just because its a low cost, low weight seat..but for the Driver seat..im going all out. My EK is used on the street, so i would like something comfortable..but also something very light. I was thinking the Spoon Seat..was wondering if anyone has this seat..can tell me what the fabric is, etc. I know it weighs 5.9kg,and is made of kevlar, but thats all i know. Anyways, if anyone has any other recommendations on another seat plz feel free to post.

Thanx

I recommend Mugen S1
very comfy, considering it's a race bucket. But you have to be somewhat thin to fit into the mugen and I'm assuming the same for the sp00n.

yoshi - whose still waiting on the brackets

have u consdiered the Recaros SP-A Kevlar, they weigh 4kg and is a hell of alot nicer than the spoons. Im gonna get a 2nd hand one and get it re-upholstered, they usually cost 5k, but this one is going for $900.

considering your weight/height.. very similar to mine.. i'm acutally 5lbs heavier.. and almost 6 foot. Spoon seat will be more comfortable cause there is more room to move, but its much smaller seat in size.. Zeal seats are made of the same mold i believe.. If you want a tight fit look into Bride Zeta II XX not type S or Type L.. i bought the Type L and someone of my size is already pushing it.. but i plan to drop 15-20lbs anyhow so its all good. I had a few peeps sit in these seats and the way they grip around your body is amazing, you really cant move for jack. The fabric and cushion are very comfortable but the design of the seat gives a really tight fit regardless. I have gotten used to mine already and i love them.. btw, when it comes to exiting the car or entering it, its much easier to fit into a spoon seat then bride.. the side support on the brides is much taller and you have to lift your *** completely out of the seat in order to slide in or out. I think mugen and spoon are both very similar maybe diferent fabric but at least they look comparable.. i have never had a chance to sit in one. If you still have stock seats if i were you i'd go for bride.. its cheaper then spoon and same price as moogen heeheh. If you get bored of them you can always swap in stock seats, i sold my stock ones to get the buckets so i have no choice really. Spoon carbon kevlar model is probably around 1300-1400 each.. My friend has a bride seat for sale right now, but the small version and that thing is hella light.. never looked at the actualy specs.. but you can hold the whole seat on one finger.

thanx alot guys.

i'll shop around some more..i guess im more inclined to grab a Spoon seat cuz I deal with AJR, and considering the current border crisis, it is much easier to recieve goods from BC then it is from the states..but i'll be sure to check the Recaro, Mugen and Bride seats.

thanx again

AJR is my best friend

they can get all these brands for you anyways.. they all have to be imported from JDM land afterall. If you are going ballz out spoon might as well get them spoon seats.. if i ever get a hold of 1K to just throw away.. you can bet your money i'm selling my brides and getting two spoomie carbon kevlar buckets

Vision CF. They are the same as the Spoons, for almost half the money. Notice I said, "almost."

I use the OMP Grip Carbon/Kevlar seat. The OMP fits a bit bigger frame. I'm 6 ft 220 lbs and wide in the shoulders. I bought it at Driver's Edge Autosport http://www.ompwins.com in Vancouver for about $899 CDN which is cheaper than the Mugen or Spoon seats. Don't get me wrong - the Spoon and Mugen seats are kick *** but don't fit bigger guys too well. Weight is 6.9 kg. Call Frank at 604 298 5575 for info. They also sell sliders and brackets that fit the Type R. They also make a full carbon fibre version if you want.

See http://www.ompracing.it for more details about the seat.

I echo Big Phat R... Spoon and Mugen are nice, but there are much better ones without costing an arm-and-a-leg. I would rather get Recaro bucket than Spoon or Mugen. BTW, you can use mugen brakets/sliders w/ side mounted Recaro bucket seats.

damn right cosworth.. i was actually in a big debate if i should get recarco bucket.. is it SGP or SPG? either way i like that seat very much and for those close to 200 lbs fits no probs... i like their rails too.. side mount but the side mount comes in silver or something.. you can also get that for brides as well.. but its extra 150.. on top of 200 for rails each.. hahaha i just got the regulars.. 200 each for rails alone! daym what a rip off.. but its all good, as my friends would say.. you live only once
*thats when i start complaining that i'm broke to my bones* ehehehehe

good luck picking up your seat whatever brand it might be.. just know this.. any one of them you pick reasonably priced/expensive you will be much happier then with a stock one cause they offer no support whats so ever.. especially civic seats that remind me of a bus stop bench! ha!

well i am 5'5 180 and been told build like a brick sh*thouse
earning the name PitBull
I dont see it but I use the Sparco Evo
not bad as a daily seat and works great for the track
and I dont think it raises your seating position as people say
if you adjust it right its fine

5'11" - 220 here... What seat would be good for me? Wide shoulders and about a 36" waist... (Sparco EVO is too small...) any suggestions hehe...

here's some pics of the spoon seats in A&J's EK

i think you can get the spoon seats in different sizes. I've sat in JDM Recaros, OMP carbon kevlar, Vision, Recaro SPG, Sparco, and Bride, and the Spoon fit me the best... and I'm a pretty big guy the padding on the spoon seats is also very comfortable...
