Yeah, the article said 20 large.

I was hoping some of the other FSAE guys would chime in, but they may be at the runoffs or whatever it's called.

They are all at competition. I was hoping to be there but unfortunately I have pressing matters here...

from what luke said.... it's more than that! of course they didn't pay for it all... alot of the carbon fiber and molding was done as a sponsorship deal

 

I had about three grand sunk in my senior year car. About six of the $25k it took to build came from students. I'd say the figure is similar this year, I donated about $2k...

It depends on how well the team is funded, and it is amazing how many are not

 

I had a frickin blast when I was on the '02 FSAE team at Virginia Tech. Long hours spent in the shop, but it all paid off. Placed 7th at competition that year, 6th place in skidpad with yours truly behind the wheel.

The '03 team outdid us, placing 6th at last year's competition.

 

I wish my school had FSAE.. my buddy is part of Cornell Racing, hes in detroit right now racing their car.

I saw Virginia Tech's car (my brother goes to school there) it's impressive.

Also saw the old trashed front end, whoever was driving that thing was damn lucky

 

I have to wonder - your sig says you are a member of a FSAE team from a school in PA, but your avatar is from detroit... did you find the avatar pic somewhere or take it while in town for the FSAE competition? (the sign is near the event)

...Tell me about it, this is so true, sometimes funding is so hard to come by. That's the way it was when I was on our FSAE team at Auburn University. Later
