3rd gen? that is 89-90 B20 ?

Will this "B series tranny" mate up to a B16 or B18 block?

probably not, the early prelude b20 doesn't seem to share much with other b-series engines.
you'd have to compare the bolt pattern.
BTW, the shifter on that thing is cable.

 

Prelude is higher in hierarchy than Civics so yes they were hydro that early.

 

so would this be a good tranny to practice on, taking apart and re-assembling?

What I mean is, if it won't bolt up to a later model B-series, are the internals similar enough that I could learn off it?

Unless someone wants to buy it, which I'd imagine is unlikely.
