after pulling an all nighter this moring, i went back to my car (parked at hearst and euclid, on the north border of the UC berkeley campus), i un did my alarm, and it chirpped 3 times. i thought "no biggie, a loud truck mustve driven by". i'd been in the library from 12am to 6am. low and behold, the alarm light flashed 5 times, indicating that my hood had been popped. i went out side and checked, and it was popped open. the theives had broken off the back cover of the latch mechanism and pullled the release cable. stupid "steal me" hondas gonna fabricate a metal sheet cover and bolt it in today. anyways, east bay/berkeley/oakland ppl keep an eye out for your babies...

 

yea... i have tons of **** on there already.... time to up the ante even more now that i know ive been targeted

 

Sucks to hear this happening to another student at CAL. One night me and you got to bait theives with our cars, catch them red handed and beat this **** out of them.

I'm in the middle of my own all nighter at Berkeley. Good luck with you sheet cover and i'll keep a lookout around my area.

Just like repo men, probably because mostly everybody is in the deepest sleep (REM) by then, and they are a lot harder to wake up. I think my best security mod is going to be buying a POS beater and drive that around. I'm talking like a 1987 Dodge Aries K car or some other piece o' junk that hurts your eyes when you look at it too long. I just can't imagine having my hatch stolen, and the only things it has are a JDM D15B, CRX Si wheels and Falken tires. I don't know what I would do without her.

ill post a pic later, but they mustve just reached thru the bumper grill, and pulled off the black plastic cover of the hood latch, and yanked really hard on the cable. my latch looks a bit outa whack now =P

actually i think that is pretty common. I know they did that to a couple of my friends. what i did isnt as good as the plate but i have a sensor there thats ties into my alarm so if the hood pops the alarm still goes off. Anyways sorry to hear and good luck on the metal plate. Also good luck with your finals at CAL.... im assuming thats what you were studieing for. My cuz is graduating this weekends from there.. gotta go visit her. Might think twice about taking my baby up there... maybe take my girls.. HEHE

 

i'd really feel sorry for the theif that pops my hood open, not only i have a 2-way pager alarm but more to it.... hehehehe

I swear that's the only reason that my EG wasn't stolen. My column got all jacked up, so I know they were trying to get it started, but my hood was popped open, so I assume that they saw the mighty d15 & walked away.

fortunately, everything was still there, sans the hood latch cover.... didnt take the egg to the library tonite (borrowed my roomate's POS). anyways, my last final is at 8am... better get back to studying. i already have more anti-theft measures in place (not gonna say what tho)

 

i read a while ago someone made like a thing to block the cable in front of the car/hood area. they also put razor blades down there and said maybe like about 2 weeks later, he saw blood down therem indicating someone tried to pop the hood!
