Default would this fool CA smog???

ok..iv been looking for a way around this for the longest time...i think this might work...as long as i dont get caught...i have a crx DX with a JDM B18C swap...my buddy has a CRX SI all stock...i was thinkking of taking his dash(including VIN#) trading it...and the trading the plates...smog his car with my dash and plates...then just switch em back...will this work?...i know the 2 motors are different but they are very close and they both came stock in the crx...do they check for anything else besides the plates and VIN#??...

The only thing I can think of is that the mileage might be different. I know they checked that with the DMV records when they smoged mine. Seems like it should work though. Are you having to go through a smog only or just a test station? That makes a diffrenece too because the test stations don't care but the smog only stations do. Good Luck!

It should say on the paper you got from the DMV if its a smog only station. I think you'll be ok...just look for the person that has no clue about honda to smog your car.

They didn't even touch the firewall in mine but you never know. Its all going to depend on what part of Cali you are in. In Oxnard...(if you've heard of it) they really don't care to much. Just the it passes.

Trinity- YES! i agree with you...hella dumb idea with the type r motor...did u see the one recent Super Street issue with the twin charged(super/turbo) itr from MEGUIAR'S...that thing was SOO ugly...i hacked my lunch up...it came with a free poster so i burned it and i plan on spreeding the ashes over the Pacific coast in memory of that wasted itr....

hey, uh, haven't any of you guys noticed that your VIN isn't just on your dash, but also in the driver's doorjamb? it won't work. if you don't believe me, go look. and don't try to scratch it out because that'll raise a huge flag having a tampered VIN in the door. they'll think it was stolen.

well i read that article and i just laugh. i mean all these people want a type-r motor (which i thinks is useless) for their car then they talk about going turbo and all this ****. well ok people in order to turbo a itr motor safely you have to lower the compression because it is high and could cause detonation, so when you lower the compression you basically have a damn gsr motor. ok so lets see a gsr motor complete swap is - like 3500 and then a itr motor complete swap- 5000. ok so lets add it up kids if you bought the gsr motor instead you could use the money left over for your turbo. that is just how i feel about these things
