Engine Swap Stuff
hey everyone, well i dont know much about engine swaps and all the possibilties out there, so i just wanted to put up a post and get some people's opinions. i have a 94 accord, and i want to swap the engine, intially of course i was thinking of the h22a, but then i had someone suggest to me that the J32a engine might be better.( acura Cl type-S) And i dont even know what the limits are, but what about an f20a S2000 engine? I just wanna get some opinions, and see what everyone has to say about it, since i dont know much about it. thanks!
oh ok, haha, i was reading some other posts and i see that someone else was already talking about the f20c (hehe i had put f20a) but yeah, i'd still like to know about people's opinions on h22a vs j32a.
You have a 4th generation Accord. When Honda put a V6 into that chassis, they put in an engine based on the old Legend's 2.7 liter V6 and it was a tight fit... they had to raise the hood.
Since the CL's motor is even bigger, I'm sure it's hard to impossible to stuff a new V6 in there.
But the H22 pretty much drops right in, and it's a fuggin monster of a 4 banger.

The J32A will not fit in the 94 Accord Chassis. It is too wide. You will probably have to tube chassis the front of the car. The first year the V6 was offered, 1995, they had to widen the front of the car to fit everything. That is why you will see bodykits for the V6 or I4 that do not interchange.
Stick with the H22. You have more torque then the F20A, more displacement, more horsepower, and a much better aftermarket following.

koo..thanks for the opinions, everyone seems to be unanimous on the h22, i better start savin up! hey big james what do u run in the 1/4?
hey James what are going to do about ur tranny with a turbo and NOS?
Naw, actually, I have a spare JDM tranny sitting in my garage. I am going to send it to Level 10 to have them build it for me. They claim that they can make it handle the power that I want no problem. I have seen the work they do on Supras and domestics, and I trust them to make good on thir claims.
If I blow that up, then I will probably bite the bullet and do the conversion.
He probably means auto to manual
If i were you James I would go straight to the manual, all that boost and NOS (i wish i could say that about my car lol) shifting a manual would be so much more fun
Good luck with it though

soo, a manual transmission would be able to handle that power more than an automatic? why is that? mine's an auto too..and i plan on converting it, but i'm kind far from that cuz i gotta save up. how much would something like that cost?
Basically because the parts in a manual tranny are more efficient at transferring power to the ground than an auto. The smoothness of an auto tranny shifting is the result of the clutches "slipping" which makes it nice and smooth and pleasant to drive, but isnt meant for high amounts of HP because the increased HP makes more heat on shifts and parts are more likely to break.

I have been pondering doing just that. I love driving a manual. However, I am on kind of a quest to prove that you can make an automatic Honda fast. Personel vendetta I guess.
