Default dpfi-mpfi power feed

I wasn't getting 12v to the wiring harness, so i spliced from a 12v source from an unused connectorand spliced it to the yel/blk wire on the engine harness. Now when the engine starts I can take the key out of the ignition and it still runs like the key is still in. The dash lights are on and every thing. Only when I pull the fuel pump connector does the engine turn off. I also think that the fuel pump is always pumping because i hear a hissing sound coming from the return line of the FPR. The car is a 91 STD hatchback with a ls/vtec using a dual point-to-multipoint wiring harness. Any ideas are much appreciated.
