I hopin to do 10's with an ACT Maxx Extreme pressure plate and a 6-puck unsprung race disc...we'll see how it works out. Its supposedly rated for 489 ft/lbs
RPS single disk is a carbon clutch right? That thing is pretty nice. Ranks up there w/ the twin disks price wise.
Im the kinda guy who if the track is open then I am there. I figure ill be putting over 2-300 10 seconed passes on my car (assuming everything holds up everywhere else on the car) and id like my clutch to last through all of this. Should I be confident w/ a regular ACT double extreme 6 puck/clutchmaster stage 5 style clutch in the car for that style racing? Im not just planning to break 10's a few times.

There you go , you just answer your own question . If you feel that the single is not good enough than spend the money and buy the good stuff . I'm sure the longivity of the single is not what your looking for .

Yes, I know, but I also have a budget too. Ill probably break the bank and go for twin disk just for security.

it's possible but the question is do you want to put one $1000 clutch in and not have to worry, or keep putting in $400 clutches and blowing them ?

Its acually a 6 puck ceramic disk. The pressure plate is rebuildable and so is the billet flywheel I got from RPS as well. I think they call it a Pro-Series clutch. We'll see if it holds up. My opinion, save and get a twin disk.

$400 clutches? I just reuse the pressure plate and get another $100 disk!

lol unless you destroy the pressure plate too
. like the straps or even worse.. been there done that in my psi days.. i would say it all depends on how hard your car leaves. and how big of a tire your on. its definetly possible. how long it will last is the question.

I was using the CM stg 4 for a long, long time. The discs wore down on me over about a years' time, with driving duty being 2-3 times a week plus about 20 times to the track each year. After recent personal failure at Fontana, I pulled it out and have replaced it with a twin disc setup CC provided. The CM plate had some minor uneven wear and the pads on the disc were more worn towards the outter edges but nothing major. It will still be around as a backup, however. I also use the CM stg 4 disc in my other Civic, and it's been going strong for atleast three years now.
