Can I use my USDM trans/ecu with a JDM h22a?
I fried my original motor and am looking at a JDM h22a and just want to make sure that I can use them all together. I just want to avoid the JDM eci b/c of the rumored 120 speed limiter, and I just spent $3k on building the original trans.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Are JDM and USDM ecu's the same? I assumed a difference b/c of the compression difference.

slightly different fuel/ignition likely...but nothing important...as long as both motors were from 4th gens you're good..the injectors will be the same then
Sparks another question then........
How do I know the difference between 4th and 5th gen JDM H22's?
They don't use the 1 or 4 notation like the usdm'ers.
But worst case scenario I could swap my old injectors into a 5th gen motor right?
Thanks again guys!

You're the man Satan!
So not all JDM motors are closed deck then?
No one has been able to answer the question about that.
So if I get a 5th gen H22a I just need to swap my old injectors onto it? Anything else?

of course..they didn't just open deck the motors for the USDMmodels! It's just that you won't see them imported as much cause they are newer and more expensive. ONly the type-s motors and such (open deck also) get brought over
JDM 5th gen? you would need to swap the dsitribtuor as well. there would be an additionaly CKP on the Oil pump but you could just leave it there

Man, was it really worth spending $3k on rebuilding the trans. You couldve' gotten a JDM H22a motor with trans for $2500 at totaljdm.com. Oh well, good luck on your new build.

Well, yes it was. I now have a freshly rebuilt trans with a Quaife, Clutchmasters Stage III, StreetLite flywheel, and Gator stage III axles. All of that was included in that $3k figure.
I have wanted an LSD for awhile, and this seemed like a great time to do it. When my turbo motor is done, I will have a bullet-proof trans to slam the power to the ground. That is after I swap the CM StageIII for the Tilton Twin plate. 5-600whp all day long.
