Actually the D16Z6 is a SOHC...... I Know, I have one

In regards to the ZC SOHC Vtec, I have no idea, I do know the ZC SOHC non-Vtec is the same as a D16A6 though.

Actually they are very similar but not quite identical...the SOHC ZC has a bit higher compression then the A6

Sweet, good to know since I have one sitting in the garage...... I was always under the impression they were the same as an A6.

Hmmm, Maybe I could put the Z6 head on it......

Maybe he is reffering to the d15b.... the Japanese Single cam VTEC that comes in the EG's over there...

If thats what you mean from my understanding it has higher compression than the d16z6 and the cam is more wild...

The ZC and A6 are different... one user (MattSB2000) even dynoed them. They were far apart... ZC won. Anyay, I kinda want that D15 that came out of the EKs.... lol. 2 Stage VTEC sounds like fun.

And yes, it has VTEC-E and VTEC, it's pretty cool. Go look for the site.

no it doesnt. the sohc zc non vtec has identical d16a6 internals (pm6). the difference lies in the camshaft alone, which has a tiny bit more duration on the exhaust side if i'm not mistaken. other than that, they are 100% identical.

I'm gonna vote for "they're wrong". I've done a lot of looking around at motors and ZCs in particular, and never once have I seen a reference to a ZC vtec. except maybe on ebay where an ignorant motor dealer put "vtec" in the listing title to catch people searching for vtec motors.

I'd be interested to see if anyone out there has info I don't. the ZC is a nice little motor as-is. vtec would be sweet.

I wasn't calling it a ZC, I was just stating that the D15 is cool. See the above posts. But good info anyway.

Nope, you're wrong. A ZC VTEC is what I'm running. Basically the same thing as the z6. Looks exactly like a Z6 except when you look at the block it says "ZC".

No kidding? News to me. that's pretty cool. what kind of stats do those have stock? Is it the same as a Z6 internally?

I was wrong once before, back in '82. I was always afraid it would happen again.

You got me on that one. I got it simply as an alternative to the DOHC ZC. Everything I've seen so far is exactly the same as my old Z6 but I've yet to open the block up. Everything I've read and been told is that it is the same motor just a different "code" kinda like the B18C1 vs. B18C and B18C5 vs. B18CR....

JDM ZC comes in three options.

1. SOHC Non Vtec
2. SOHC Vtec
3. DOHC Non Vtec

That doesn't make sence, The DOHC ZC motor has ZC stamped on it. I think that the d16Z6 is the sohc zc eveyone keeps talking about thats what i have seen stamped on a sohc block that poeple call a zc vtec sometimes. It always confussed mme but I am possitive that the DOHC ZC is stamped with the ZC and no other block is.

The ZC SOHC VTEC is the USDM version of the D16Z6, but its a little better. Now everyone understand?

I just dropped one in a 90 Hatch.
