91 teg. stumbles and no power at low RPMs. any ideas?
A friend of mine has a 91 teg LS. At low RPMs (I would say anything less than 2.5K-3K RPMs) the car has absolutely no power and it kinda stumbles. He replaced tha air filter, plugs, and wires. I am kinda thinking its a clogged cat or something like that but I really dont know. The car idles ok, starts right up, etc. and it has normal power at the higher RPMs. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
thanks

I also had that same problem and I have a 91 LS. My problem was the gas! I used 94 octane then I reduced it to 92. Worked fine ever since. I believe it is the timing though. You need to retard the timming by turning the distributor towards the fron of the motor. If you advance it, it will be for more top end power! If timing doesn't work chand the gas!
Hope this helps!
