Default My RPMs at 80 mph with my JDM Final Drive.

ok so I went and drove my car to join in on the debate.

Setup: 2000 ITR with JDM Final Drive with GS-R 5th gear.

In 4th gear at 80 mph my RPMs are at 6300.
In 5th gear at 80 mph my RPMs are at 4400.

To me it sounds like evrythings normal in 5th gear. I have stock gearing and 80mph in 5th leaves me pretty much at the same rpm 4300-4400. my other peeps noted they do around 4000 rpm in 5th gear at 80mph. So i know it helped your 1/4 after seeing you run. When im in 4th gear around 80mph I know my vtec doesnt engage until my speedo gets to around 86mph, so that would be around 6000rpm for me. You bastard!!!

120km/h (75mph) in 5th gear, i am at 4400rpms.

http://www.autocrossing.com/cgi-bin/gearcalc.cgi

If you use this you can play around with different gear ratios

I think for me there is only to diff ways to find out. Either compare gear for gear, speed for speed with Tom (Because we have almost identical setups) or tear down the tranny and look @ the gears physically ( I REALLY don't want to do that).

@ 80 in 5th. Are you sure you got the GSR 5th in there?

Wow that's weird I have a USDM ITR tranny as well with NO GS-R 5th and at 75mph (120km/h) i am at 4400 on my V-AFC, unless my speedo is off? cause the V-AFC is correct but maybe i need a VSD to show my actual speed as well? But it shouldn't be that bad.

I made a QBASIC program a while back to do some gear calculating. Screen shots are included on the page, and its all incoded in QBasic. I programmed it and assure that there is no viruses or such on it. (Its university webspace, so even if I was savvy enough to do that, you could report me very quickly.)

The math is all right, but the chart is wrong, and probably of no use to you anyways. Feel free to download and distribute, but give credit where its due. Enjoy!

jdm FD + gsr 4 and 5 = 98 spec gear box. if you go with ats or whatever that co is that has the 4.9 FD...id suggest teh LS 5th gear...and maybe the gsr 4th still.

Wassup rob, derrick aint bout to do nuttin with the R. I havent drivin the 2 in a while I need to fix my camber in the back, my tires are getting ate up. The R is running pretty good. I think it may have just broken in. My engine has 16k miles on it now. Im pretty sure ill be at the dyno day spectating. I have no reason to dyno it anymore. It doesnt burn any oil so Im happy now. If your reading this also: ken is the dyno day going to be held at engineered or elsewhere? Well I could use a cai. My civic 1 is too loud.
