#$%*& frost white paint won't match...
trying to paint my moldings on my frost white DA (as everyone knows...the black moldings/lips are ugly)
got some plastikote color that matched my code (NH 538) (plastikote # 5323)...and an Adhesion Promoter....(bulldog). I first tried just the two of those....at least 4 or 5 coats of the paint on my lip. sanded first...then thin coats of everything. it came out too blue. so i'm like "okay, it's just the black showing through still"
instead of wasting money ($4 a little can) on the color matched stuff, i got a laquer based primer (an enamel one wouldn't work w/ the plastikote)....sanded everything down again first....did the bulldog....primered until there was no black to be seen. then went over with 3 coats of plastikote, and 2 clear coats.
still doesn't match. it's just off. texture looks different...color has a different look to it.
i don't know what else to do....this paint that i'm using should match....and has been known to match when other people have painted their moldings.
maybe it's just the lip? (i haven't tried anywhere else)....and the rough plastic makes it look different.
not sure where to go at this point. (don't want to pay a bunch of money to have them 'professionally done') maybe my expectations are too high, or maybe because i'm looking for the difference, i see it?

You get what you pay for, you want it perfect then paint the car. There really is no way around it. The only reason its going to bother you the most is because you are the one doing it.
Almost nobody notices that my sidemarkers are not even on my car but I know they are not even.
