asking for a friend, changing brakes/flushing coolant/changing timing belt
Friend has a 99 Accord EX, 4cyl, 100k miles. She was told she needs to change her timing belt, flush her coolant, and change her brake pads/rotors. She's been told by her shop that it'll be $800 for all three services. I know timing belt should be done, does her coolant need flushing at this mileage? Is this a normal price? TIA.
That is a really good price! I have paid for just the timing belt to get done and ended up paying $700. When was the last time the coolant was changed?
why do they want to change the rotors????....pads make sense...but unless the rotors are bad......are u sure it wasnt "rotate the rotars"?.....but to be honest, from a shop, thats not toooo bad.......

It's pretty easy to look at the rotors. Are they grooved? Badly rusted (they're always kinda rusty)? Do the brakes pulsate?

I WOULD SAY THAT THE QUOTE ON THE PRICE SEAMS A LITTLE HIGH
IT DEPPENDS WHERE YOUR FRIND IS GOIN TO GET IT DONE,IF ITS ON A DEALER SOUNDS GOOD BUT IF ITS ON A GAS STATION THAT TOO MUTCH, THEY SHOULD MEASURE THE ROTORS SEE IF THEIR UNDER SIZES. THEN YOU NEED NEW ROTORS OTHER THAN THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO GET NEW ROTORS.

i paid 180 for timing belt and water pump at one shop(cash, no invoice), although i was first offered 250 from my friends dadz shop..this was just labor, i supplied the parts, which i bought from the dealer and got the whole nine to get the job done for around 150

Seems like the consensus is that this is a decent price for all three services so I'll let her know.
