Default hood wont stay down

i got a 90 civic hb -

you know how when you pop your hood with the lever its up but still latched? mine stays like that, it doesnt lock all the way down.

its a new hood but the original ripped off, i took off and examined the striker, and oiled it- it seems ok , the pin and latch on the hood are off some other one - i dont have the bump stops in the hood, could this be a problem?

help i dont want it to rip off on the highway again. ..

there are bolts on both the latch and the striker that alllow you to adjust the position/alignment. Make sure they're lining up right.

they seem to lign up just fine. it closes good, it just doesnt lock down, it stays as if you poped it from inside the car at all times.

have you adjusted the screw on the center of the hood (inside the spring) to lengthen it a bit? that is what will lock your hood down. that is what you need to adjust. just use a flathead screwdriver.
