I got my exhaust setup installed last week and man is the ES loud and sounds crappy. My setup is Comptech Icebox and filter, JDM ITR header, 2.5" Magnaflow cat, 2.5" piping and 2.5" es oval. People have been asking me how it sounds so I made a little video. Excuse the poor quality its taken with my digi cam

Im going to have a resonator or 2 added on tomorrow and hopefully it quiets down a little if not Im going to switch to a different muffler like a magnaflow or something.

I had a resonator in my pipe, and it sounded almost stock until I opened it up. Loudness wasnt an issue with mine.

I think running any aftermarket exhaust w/o a resonator will make it sound like ****(ie yours).

 

resonator/s will help a lot

 

yea i hope so...i ran a magnaflow 2.5" with a gutted cat on my turbo'd LS and it wasnt this loud.....

I used a stock b-pipe from an civic SI. not exactly 2.5", lol.

oh **** lol well i was thinking about a cherry bomb but the inside diameter is only 2" so i have to shop around

When he took off in the parking lot, it sounded a bit on the loud side. But livable.

Resonator should do the trick, good luck with it bro.

 

no cat, no resonator, 2.5" mandrel bent piping, madnaflow over i love it!

 

I never liked the ES oval muffler
But yes, a resonator will help smooth/quiet the sound.

yea everyone says "oh yea its quiet" I really wanted an old school RSR exhaust but they are so hard to find. Can anyone recommend a resonator??

yea magnaflow 2.5" high flow...same one Clinton got

get a magnaflow resonator,many different lengths to chose from and u can get it in 2.5 also...

 

I have basically the same set up and mine is a lot quiter, but I use a 2 1/2 22" long magnaflow muffler as a resonator.

 

in the 'pull-off' vid, the car sounds like ****. the 'inside' vid is okay. resonator should deepen it a bit.

i have just a stock airbox, jdm itr 4-1 header no cat, 2.25 piping 20" resonator. im just gonna stick with my setup?


BTW did you notice any gain?

I put all the parts on at the same time....the car def pulls hard for minor mods but damn its loud. You def need 2.5" piping all the way back if not your not taking full advantage of the 2.5" collector

so what about my car i gotta b18c1 wit aem short ram, 4-1 itr header wit no cat no responator jus str8 pipe to a APEXi TURBO SPEC MUFFLER!!!

 

i actually like that sound its not bad. i used to have a similar setup but i had stock muffler it was almost as loud as yours. its the resonator for sure. but if i were you i would keep it.
