Is Spoon FW the only one from Japan that would grind? I know that Toda and ATS won't. How about JUN?

Comes with a new Honda bearing.

It will not grind if installed properly.

Mine has not ground/grinded in 4 years of ownership and hard track driving.

Get the Comptech AL, it's the lightest and it installs and runs perfectly.

Includes bearing already installed...I have a spare bearing if anyone needs one ($10 shipped and its yours)

I don't know about that... I installed mine properly and it ground with in a week of installing it. It got so bad that I would have to put the car in first, push the clutch in with my right foot, push the car with my left foot out the door and pop the clutch so the fly would move a little so it would start. I replaced it with an XACT and never had a problem since.

I've heard different stories from different people. Some say they have no problems at all, other say they have problems from the get go. I've also heard that there are 2 different versions out there. The old one which grinds due to the fact that the JDM starter bendix is different from the UDSM and another, newer version that works with both USDM and JDM. I have not seen any hard evidence to support the 2 version theory, so your guess is as good as mine.

Hell yeah Still in my back yard, a little rusty, but it's still around. Used more as a drink table then an ash tray as all the ashes blow out with the slightest breeze.

Check and see if u have a Denso starter, if you do, then good luck, there is a GOOD CHANCE that you will grind the starter occasionally and it will get worse if you don't fix it.

If you're concerned..... but got a good deal...

find a buddy who drives an EM1 (99-00) Civic Si/SiR. Swap starters and away you go. ITR = Denso, SiR = Mitsuba. When you pull the starters and hold them side by side, it is evident they are different.

I did this when I got my Spoon Flywheel, which I ultimately ditched for a CM al unit that I'm loving more and more.....despite not having driven my R in over 6months now....

OK, who is using a Spoon flywheel, do you have this problem and how did you fix it?

Are we just putting different starters on? Are we getting JDM starters or using Ragin'Angel's idea?

There seems to be a way to adjust the starter slightly...has this solved the issue for us?

IIRC the CTR starter works well with that FW, But why bring this back from the dead to ask this?

Get one of the Comptech flywheels. It comes in aluminum (7.5lbs) or steel (8.5Lbs) which can be easily resurfaced. Both come with installed bearings

About 30 starts so far, and has worked every time.

I think I'll just not worry about it.
