Default Cam question

Im in the process of researching on some cams to get for my 97 gsr...i was jw do the skunk2 stg 1 cams out perform the CTR cams or are they about the same(power output)...and this is a stupid question but would i have to get the intake and exhaust cam or just one of them and if it is just one which one do i have to get...id be running this with dc sports jdm header, high flow cat, and 2.5 catback...thanx

There are alot of really inexpensive cams on the market lately that are very very similiar to some popular brands now. You might wanna look into those and save several hundred dollars.

I would get the M22's but the waiting time is long but worth the wait i guess

Yes, they do outperform them by a bit. They have a higher lift and are better for higher rpms. However, you need to upgrade your valvetrain to take advantage of them and yes having good supporting mods will help your gains.

If you want to make it simple and stay oem then slap some CTR cams or 00-01 ITR cams on there and you'll see some great midrange and top end gains. There a lot cheaper and you won't have to upgrade your valvetrain if you really don't want to spend the extra cash. If you do upgrade then that'll help a bit if you got some other mods to help build up some more power. Cam gears always help tuning out the cams at the dyno (shifting your power band, etc).
