Anyone put a different horn in your car?
I was thinking how whimpy the stock Civic horn is. I wanted to put something else in there. I would really like to put in a Toyota Tundra horn because those are sweet but its not like its an easy item to come by and even with my employee discount its too much to spend on something stupid. What is a cheaper horn that sounds louder and meaner? I always hear Cadillac horns sound awesome but I don't think I've ever even heard one. I don't want to buy a horn and have no idea what it sounds like. So if any of you guys have any junkyard or auto parts store horns you put in than chime in.
I don't want an air horn because I don't want to put anything other than the horn in my car. I don't want to deal with a compressor and all that.
I've got a pair of Ford Mustang horns for my car to use... eventually. Gotta setup a relay to the stock wiring to make them work, though.
Should be interesting.

I've been thinking of going to pick and pull and seeing what I can find. Hopefully I'll be able to splice some wires and just use it right out of the box without blowing fuses etc. I don't know much about electrical, lol.

I am using some chevy car horns on my ride, they are i think from a newer malibu/impala, they are way loud. They are a dual horn setup on a single bracket, and whats cool is that it BOLTS ON! There is a random hole on the inside of the bumper on the frame and this bracket/horn assembly bolts right in and fits great. The horn comes with a 2 wire setup and you just need to butt-connect them to your factory horn wires.

I can get part #'s if anyone is interested on buying one from the chevy dealership, its kinda expensive for this horn...about $40 plus $10 for wire connector.

i went to a junkyard and pulled one from a huge old cadillac. i think it costed me $5. its a one-wire one though, so i have to wire up a relay. its really loud though
My buddy in high school had this horn that would do animal noises, play songs, and all kinds of crazy stuff. Man I guess we were easily entertained or something because we had some fun with that. That would get my vote, if you can find one. Oh yeah air horns are badass too.

Why bother with a horn? Just put in a PA. Endless amounts of fun to be had there, plus u can personalize your "horn" to fit the scenario.
i.e. scream "GET OUT OF THE WAY YOU SLOW ****!" or "HEY! STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE, JACKASS!"
But seriously, i saw a couple of red hella air horns w/what looked like a tiny li'l compressor, similar to what you're looking @, but they actually have that horn shape. It was in my buddy's toyota truck catalog, and it said those were the loudest horns they carry. Was like $40-50, IIRC. Dunno what you're going for, but those may be louder than what you're looking @, for a little more green. HTH.

118 DB of italian style tootin The compressor sits right behind the battery and sandwiched w/the shock tower.
If you still don't wanna air horn, go for a Buick Park avenue horn. They sound like trains, it's hilarious and loud. My friend plans to put them on his 00 teg
