Idle continually goes up and down - help!
I have a 92 Accord ex that now continually idles quickly up and down whenever the car is in park or nuetral. I've asked 4 shops and got 4 answers...anyone have experience here? I'm guessing the idle control value may need to be replaced, but one shop said there are two idle control values, one fast and one regular.

I had the same problem ('91 auto EX) and it turned out the idle control valve was bad. It was replaced and it's ok so far.

I have heard that you can just take off the IACV and clean it out really good and that usually solves the problem. It should be on the back of the intake manifold.

does the car throw a Check Engine Light after u drive for a while?
my accord throws a Check Engine Light after i drive for a while. i checked the code and it threw an IACV and EGR code. but, i do not have a problem with my idle boucing up and down.
it could be that the idle is set too high. try adjusting the idle screw on the top of the throttle body--turn the idle down.
there was one occaision that i fiddled with my idle screw and set the idle too high...the motor would rev up to 1500 rpm then cut down to 800 constantly in park and in neutral. i turned down the idle via the adjustment screw and it was back to normal.
try making the adjustment, if that does not work, repost your results
i can ask my friend who is a honda tech at one the local dealerships what the problem may be.
