I live in BC , Canada right now and i can tell you there is NO better roads for riding that the ones we got here, (with the exception of maybe oregon or something) we got soo many nice twisty roads with very little traffic its silly. However we can't ride alot of the year, I personally would like to live somewhere i could ride year round and get rid of my car cause i hate cars....So cali or florida would be prime for that, i imagine theres some good tracks in cali too but i don't know for sure. Theres a few guys here in cali that will prolly chip in on the topic.
Where i live it isn't bad but the 75% of the roads have potholes in them and can't really lean that well cause of the crowns in the road are outrageous + potholes don't make it easier. I've found some wicked good twisty roads + everywhere i go is very scenic beautiful place. I give my area half a thumb up
I think San Diego is a great place. We have many twisties including Palomar. Willow Springs isnt too far for the track. Fontana is a little closer and a not nearly has hot as Willow in the spring/summer. Plus we have beaches and a nice down town area. Traffics getting worse on the freeways but the twisties usually dont have many cagers and when there are they are usually friendly enough to wave you by. Palomar gets pretty hairy on the weekends though. Too many people riding outside their limits but thats pretty much expected no matter where you go.

Pricing varies all over the place, but for the most part housing is pretty expensive. You could always find a nice apartment but its not the best suggestion for someone with a nice bike due to theft and maintainence on your bike. Are you going to be living alone? If so an apartment is probably you're only choice. Someone posted some nice pix in another thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=844089 I might be going up to palomar tommorow so I can take some nice shots if you havent seen it before.
Having read both threads, I don't really know what benefit my post will be, but I like to type, so here is my input:
Los Angeles - best mix of weather and roads. It's sunny and warm most of the time and some of the best roads exist here. Buttonwillow/Streets of Willow, Willow Springs, and Fontana/California Speedway are all within a short trip. The other places might have one nicer road, or have more accessible tracks, but after you calculate all the pros and cons, LA tops the list. We also have the most smog, the worst drivers (inside the US), and cops with big chips on their shoulders. Housing costs are insane here. But, if you can find a house, it will most likely be a worthwhile investment.
And, Vegas is only 3 hours away.

thanks for the replies guys. i have worked in LA before (temporary) and i could get a job there with my company no problem (el segundo area, blech).
i dont think i could handle the LA lifestyle. maybe i could. it was a lot different. although i live in TX i am not a Texas person by any means. i grew up in so fla which we nicknamed the rotten apple cause all the freaks from new york show up in the winter and gave me a pretty crappy impression of the northeast and the people from there in general.
i think what i am learning is i need to do some travelling and see these places for myself and make a decision. the pacific NW is looking interesting as well as so cal.
i will be in boston and driving to albany and the Saranac mountains area of new york for a hockey camp. god its beautiful up there but no jobs for me.
i think i wanna live somewhere not so heavily populated with good backroads which puts the racetracks far away in general, but i'll live.

New Jersey is obvioulsy the best place to ride just think about it...
-New Jersey has the highest cost of auto insurance.
-New Jersey is the most densely populated state
Oh i could go on, but think about the possibilities
Cant wait to move

Atlanta has some nice back roads (and we aren't far from Deals gap) but I disagre with the guy who said LA has the worst drivers. Atlanta has gotta be 1st or @ least tied with 1st.

But you guys don't have FOB mothers from Hong Kong who've never driven in their lives, and are now driving in LA.
Their driving pattern - Gas...brake...stop at a green light trying to figure out where they want to go...gas...gas...gas...change lanes without looking/signaling....gas...gas...gas...BRAAAAAKE...turn right from the left turn lane...
Apparently honks, fingers, and shaking fists mean squat to them.
Falcon, maybe you should not want to live in LA after all...

Milwaukee is cool, other than most cyclists are harley's, but its only like a 20 min drive to get to the country where all roads are smooth and abandoned. Only thing that sucks is we only get 5 months to ride if we are lucky

falcon,
I live in seattle. I haven't been riding long enough to really give you an evaluation of the twisty roads around here, but there are lots of mountains which usually equals good roads. http://www.soundrider.com has some rides, such as Mt Rainier loop, Mt Baker loop, I've driven to Mt. Baker in a cage and I'm sure it would be awesome on a bike.
Summer is really nice, it never gets that hot (90 is considered incredibly hot for august). Right now we are having an unusually nice spring (it's about 75 and sunny right now) but normally it rains quite a bit in the spring, and of course it rains pretty much all the time from october through february. It snows in seattle itself maybe once a year.
For stuff besides motos, if you like the outdoors it's great, we have good mountain biking and snowboarding/skiing relatively close to the city. The cost of housing is pretty high but it's better than southern california or San Francisco. Racetracks, we have Pacific Raceways in Auburn and also Portland International Raceway down in oregon. I've never ridden or driven either but they have a lot of events.
I think most drivers here are idiots but that is probably a universal truth the applies to any city.

bay area, california. weather is usually great, tons of great roads with twisties, lots of cool places to go on day rides (yosemite, santa cruz, montery, etc), large motorcycling crowd, plus its california so you can lane split
