What tire size for 17 inch rims on a ITR?
I guess it's time for me to change my tires.
I have 17 inch Volk Racing Gram Lights. Anyway, currently the size is 204/40/17. I would like to have a different size that would help on the track (next week I'll have the chance to drive at Bahrain International Circuit
) I've tried a search with no answer that I've been convinced with. Does 215/45/17 sounds good? Is it possible to have 205/45/17?
Any suggestions please. Thank you.

Im not sure how much it matters to you, but the 205/40 is almost the exact diameter of an ITR's stock wheel. Here is the skinny:
205/40-17
82(2)+431.8=595.8mm diameter
205/45-17
92.25(2)+431.8=616.3mm diameter
195/55-15
107.25(2)+381=595.5mm diameter
I think the 205/40, like stated above, is the best choice.

Even if I had a set of coilovers (Tein FLEX)?

I'm running 215/40-17 on my 17x7.5" Volks. It did rub in the back a little bit. I had to make some adjustments to fit them.
On our ITR street car, we have 17x8 SSR Competitions in +48mm offset and use 215/40 17s with no rubbing at all front or rear. And yes it is lowered with Koni/GC setup.
Getting to run on Bahrain circuit? That rules. Have fun.

If I go ahead with and purchase 215/40/70s I'm not sure if I could use them with my current Gram Lights, because interestingly enough my next purchase (very soon hopefully) should be to buy 17" SSR Competitions (your experience falls right in place). The main reason is for the StopTech big brake kit I have clears the wheels (now they don't). When I get the new wheels I want to be able to use the same tires, if possible.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get the chance to (nothing is for sure
