Hi, I will be putting in the gsr engine next weekend, and have plans to have it build the head up to rev to around 8,400 or more. So basically I need a new cluster. I allready have the vss thinggy, and I need imput on which cluster looks better in person. From pictures the DC teg one looks to have the outer gauges cut off a little, and the EK civic cluster seems to show a little of the bottom corners. Anyone seen these both in person? Which one looks more like stock fitment?
Also, which fits better in the 90-91 crx housing? Thanks, Ryan

Well, I like the type r ones more, and the price is cheaper, so... But you think that they are the same as far as cleanness? Can you see one looking more stock than the other? Ryan
YAh the ef gauges are a perfect fit but I like the Type Rs I would go with the Civic R the carbon fiber in there looks cool and the 8500 is where the red starts so might be usefull for the revs your looking for. I'll try to research on how the fitments are
Here is a post from a while ago with a "how to" GSR cluster install. It fits well with minor modification - https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=274235

Yeah, well the sir cluster is kinda crappy in my opinion(just dont like it). It dosent have a high enough redline either. I have plans to rev to 8,400 rpm, and the r gauges are perfect!!! Yeah, I might as well get one that has the proper redline if im gunna spend the cash, right!!
Yeah, ive seen the how-to's, thanks. The wiring should be easy, just trace the circuts to there locations.
Yeah, the carbon fiber looks cool too. My plans are to get a jdm itr one(carbon fiber), and swap out the speedo gauge with a us spec unit so my mph are shown(needle swap too).
PinoyED89-- gracias for the research
I have however searched like everything n here. Most of the pics are hard to tell if any gaps are left. One guy (camshaft's) look great!! Thats what im going for I guess.
I also hear that the gauge hood can be molded a little with a heat gun, and cutting. This is what I will likely do. I guess I just want it to look just like stock. lll Keep you guys updated on this.
Heres what I need: jdm itr cluster, usdm ls or gsr cluster, cluster clips, 90-91 hood.

HA HA YOU BITER RYAN!!! I'm going to put a USDM ITR cluster in my CRX after my swap is done. I'm sure you know but wait till after the smog ref and BAR certification.

Thanks for the imput, but what is your reasoning? This is much apprecieated!!
Dosent the ek leave some room on the bottom corners? Ryan
APEX CRX--
HAHAHA, itr cluster too, huh. NICE!! Yeah, im gunna wait for the cams/valve springs/ ecu upgrades/ cluster stuff. Till after its all certified. Thanks for the heads up though!!! Ryan
PS, Camshaft said he used body filler to fill in gaps, does anyone know how this would be used? Thanks

I like my DC cluster (Teg GSR) and its way cheaper than a 2000 Civic Si cluster. Never saw one of those installed in person however.

HA HA I got the real deal USDM ITR cluster already!! I'm not sure how camshaft used bondo to fill the gaps. From other pics I've seen I think you really need to be detail **** to fill little gaps with bondo then paint it all black before the hood goes on.

Yup, thats me, detail ****!! How much was the usdm itr cluster? Did you get the plugs too? Ryan
I didn't bother doing that much....there are enough things that aren't perfect to worry about those.
My Cluster is a USDM model too.
Selling my EF-9 JDM SiR cluster soon.

got the cluster for a steal from a buddy who owed me (free ha ha) no plugs though
I bought a GSR cluster with plugs and to use the circuit board too for $50.00

id say go with the dc cluster, thats what i have in my hatch. You don't even notice the parts of the gauges that get cut off since you can clearly see the temp and fuel especially at night
I have seen both in person and I do like the EK cluster alot better. Just the way it sits behind the wheel just makes it fit so much nicer. I think it flows alot better with the interior and fits the smooth arch of the guage hood alot better then the DC. Thats my opinion.
Here are some mor epics of the cluster in my car to help yo uout.

Ive seen yours James, it looks nice, but do the bottom corners line up, or is there a gap? Also, the tach is only 8k... **** this sucks trying to decide. Ryan
Yes there is a little gap but when sitting in the car it is very unnotticable. I was actually thinking of taking a heat gun to the corners and molding them to fit the cluster more. I heard of this being done for the teg cluster, so I may just give it a try.
