B18C Intake or Exhaust?
Hey, I have a 92 civic hatch with a B18C1 in it with GReddy PE exhaust and AEM intake. Right now I am in the process of buying either the skunk2 intake manifold or some headers..(and I dont plan on spending a **** load of money on custom headers either, just a pair of good high-performance bolt on headers)..My question is which mod do you think will give me the highest power gain? I was thinking the skunk2 manifold, so I can get rid of the dual chamber intake manifold, but then ive been reading up on the engine and heard the exhaust manfiold doesnt flow all that great either, so any opinions or facts will be appreciated thanx!
jg edelbrock makes more power for that application. and is about the same price as the skunk2. and dc makes a header that is a replica of the good typer headder. that is 4-1 with a 2.5" collector. and u should be able to get it for a good price.
Alright, thanx I appreciate it. Im just doing it piece by piece right now, spending each pay check on a new part! What part do you think would be a bigger power gainer?...the intake manifold or header? Also, after the intake manifold and headers I plan on getting the portflow valvetrain then skunk2 stage II cams then hondata. Would the Skunk2 manifold be better or the JG edlebrock?
well as far as whats better between header or IM. both need eachother to werk well. u can ut all the air in u want. but if u cant get it out. it doesnt do u any good. and same for the header. it doesnt matter if your exhaust flows incredible if you r not moving much air into the engine in the first place. so if it were me. i would wait till i had the money for both. should notice a big difference.
and like i said before the jg makes more power than the skunk2 will. the ports line up better. skunk is built more for a b16. and to really see any benefit from stage 2 cams. u will need to up your compression ration. too much of a cam for the engine could actually hurt your performance.

When getting the Skunk2 intake mani, it's recommended to do some tuning, due to the low *** 4400 RPM crossover. The reason the GSR has such a low VTEC crossover is because of the dual stage runners on the manifold. So when doing the intake mani, best to get that taken care of and also a good set of cams to make up the power in that midrange. A good header would do some good. Might as well just get all the bolt-ons taken care of first before starting anywhere else.
yeah, go with headers first.
im wont give you any gains with stock cams....maybe a little up top but loose midrange.
same the im. for when you are ready to swap cams and tune

thank you I was waiting for someone to clear "Header" and how it is singular
