Are there differences between any of the usdm type r ecu's?

yes there are. the 2000 & 2001 USDM ITR ECUs have the immobilizer built in.

And the plugs are different! (not interchangable)

Hm..... maybe this thread isn't so good for itr's security.

It is a unit inside the ecu that will not let the car crank without a certin key that has a computerchip placed inside . You have to have these keys programed to the imobilizer before they will work.
