haven't used anything like that. But I did just recharge my A/C 4 days ago, used one of my father's 10 gallon tanks of R134, and the full tank costs $40 or so. (don't believe they come with the pressure gauges though.)

you dont relly need the one with the pressure gauge, just buy a low connection hose (10$) and 2 cans of any 12oz (5 to 6$ each including tax) and its set! i usually buy 1 with the uv dye (7$'s) incase theres a leak...

very simple to use, itll take like 10-15 min of your time.

if you dont fully evacuate and recharge it then it wont work as good as it could, you need to put it in a vaccume then go and charge it up but make sure you dont put too much oil in it.

The big thing to remember is not to overcharge the system or you run the risk of burning out your compressor.

the compressor will turn on and turn it's self back off a second later. Get one with the guage on it. It should read 250 PSI with the compressor on. If it is overcharged then the compressor will automatically shut itself off to prevent further damage. I just fixed my own A/C but I accidentally overcharged it. Had to take it to a pro and have him vacuum everything out of it and I was good to go.

Just make sure to not overfill it. Read the pressure while the max A/C is on, recirculating is on and it's turned all the way to blue. Then make sure the compressor is going when you take your readings.

2 cans of 12oz recharge is Maximun amount, they clearly state dont use over 2 cans on any helms/haynes/etc etc... if you dont want to damage anything.

I have a '97 Accord. Had my A/C charged and tested for leaks less than a year ago. The A/C worked fine for a while, but now the air doesn't get cold, especially on warm days. Any ideas?

sometimes it takes a bit to get cool, like if your car been sitting in the sun for a while, im not sure if its just me but i been always taught to drive around for a bit before turning on the ac...

if nothing else works, you can try 1 bottle of recharge and see if it helps...if it does youll need another recharge i guess.. how often do you use the ac??

is it clogged up?? last time i did mainteneace on my ac i found almost a hand full of leaves and junk inside, and i had my ac on full blast and it felt like it wasnt even on...

i cleaned all the junk out with compressed air and a clothes hanger, filled it with 1 can of oil only cause i wasnt sure if it was full or not, and it worked like a charm for me.

I know this is probably a newbie question, but can someone help me locate the low pressure connection so I can recharge my 96 honda LX 4 cyc. ??
Please, it's hot outside and I'm very limited on time, and I can't seem to locate it.

Look for a blue plastic cap on a threaded fitting on a silver tube, somewhere close to your radiator.
