Default Rear upper strut bar on civic hatch

Could someone tell me where to put the rear upper strut bar on a 98 civic hatch? I've seen some put them on where the seat belts are, but unsure if it really works. Do you think I can cut out holes on the side of the panel and connect them to the struts like it's suppose to be. Anybody out there who know, could you please inform me. Thanks!

The rear upper strut bar goes above your rear struts in your trunk. From the description provided you are talking about a c-pillar bar which can be installed using your existing seat belt bolt. No need for drilling or such

I still don't get it. So does that mean I have to cut the holes out the panel and then I can put the strut bar on. Or is there another way of doing it without cutting the panel to have access to the struts.
