Cant shift from neutral to first
After driving around for while, it becomes like almost impossible to shift from neutral to first or second. To begin with, my clutch is really stiff- not sure what that has to do with it, but anyways... Plus the car is an 88 with 196k miles, and possibly the orginal clutch (but im hoping not). So, when I try to shift into 1st, its like the gears refuse to mesh- they wont go in at all- almost like the clutch is engaged and im trying to shift. once i turn the car off though, i can shift into all the gears fine- sometimes i have to turn it off, shift into 1st, and start the car back up(with the clutch disengaged of course). Any body got any ideas on whats going on? Is my clutch bad???
how fast are u going when you try to put it back into first? there is a lock out on it so if your going to fast for 1st gear it wont allow you to shift into it and over revving the motor/trans
Also... when ur not moving...(when u should try to put it into first)
if u can't get it in... leave it in neutral then let out the cluch and put it back in again
then try to put it into gear. it moves some of the gears inside so it can mesh better.
Lemme kno if that helps
