Default running cold all the time, does it hurt?

i'm currentlly running a cold t stat, and my temp never reaches 1/4 on a regular basis. i was told that running a motor that cold is hurting power. should i go back to the stock t stat?
i had over heating problems with my old motor on the road corse, thats why i use a cold t stat, but i also like to hit up the drag strip. would a stock t stat and a thicker radiator (fluidyne) be a better way to go instead?

I had a Spoon t stat on my itr before. It ran cold on freeways and would only warm up to normal temp during long city driving. Lawrence at Dsr told me that it could hurt performance because of its inability to reach normal operating temps (hondata can compensate this somewhat).

Since then, I use a stock t stat and things are fine as well. I say swap in your spoon/mugen t stat for the road course for drag its not needed.

The only thing its probably going to hurt is your gas mileage.

I dont mean to high-jack but my car runs cold all the time as well. How can I check to see if its got a different thermistat because I would like the car to operate like its stock, and improve my gas mileage.

for the price of a stock t stat, ($20 from thr dealer) just replace it. by the time you take the t stat out to check it, youm ight as well put a new one in.

thanks, i think i will replace it with a stock unit, then go from there. some have said that maybe my motor needs more tunning thats why i'm overheating on the corse.
